Stunning Sansui BA-5000 Deep Dive Video

Buoyed by the success of my Technics SE-A100 video, which now has over 22,000 views and a 98% positive rating, and needing a break from the two-day grind of producing huge articles, I decided to release another longer-form video you might enjoy. I’ve just published a deep-dive video about the incredible Sansui BA-5000 power amplifier I repaired last year.

The Sansui BA-5000 is certainly one of my favourite power amplifiers I’ve had the pleasure of working on. This video was, of course, meant to accompany my original article, but unfortunately, despite having it ready, I never got around to publishing it – until now! I’ve also updated the original article to include the video. Enjoy!

  1. Great video Mike, thanks for putting it together and making it available. There are a lot of interesting bits of information you provide in it and what a fantastic piece of vintage gear. BA 5000 seems similar configuration to McIntosh power amps (e.g. MC 7270) with auto formers.

    1. Thanks Vladan, and my pleasure as always! These are lovely amplifiers and yes, similar to transformer-coupled Macs. I would rather have the Sansui, but you know my preference for Japanese equipment!
